About The Play
Reimaging Shakespeare's classic comedy against a backdrop of Romany gypsy music, the TakeOver production of As You Like It will follow Rosalind's japes in the forest of Arden. A play of double meanings in which being and seeming seamlessly interchange, the plot turns on the blurred boundaries of gender and class, wrapped in plenty of laughter.

Boasting over 250 years of thespian board treading, York Theatre Royal fills two auditoria with a packed schedule that includes anything from new writing and classic plays to a good bit of pantomime. The theatre also has its eye on budding talent, encouraging young people to get involved with the running of the theatre for the TakeOver Festival each year.
