The Hotel
Benefitting from the peace of a characterful Dublin suburb, this modern hotel offsets homely comforts with sterling facilities and a striking sense of style. The building’s illuminated exterior conceals 126 pristine rooms, each of which is resplendently adorned with contemporary decor and soft, sleek furnishings. Awash with the aroma of freshly prepared delights, the Skylon Restaurant couples it à la carte menu with floral flourishes, candle-lit tables, and an extensive wine cellar. The hotel’s Bar & Grill is a less formal affair, and houses a range of Irish brews, robust grub, and live music amongst its traditionally crafted bar-front and communal seating.
The Stay
Bedding down in an elegant double or twin room, visitors can refresh their senses in the en-suite bathroom, catch the news on the flat-screen television, or peruse emails with Wi-Fi internet. Discerning gourmets may wish to sample the flavours of the hotel restaurant, while early-risers can be sure of a treat each morning with either a continental and full Irish breakfast served between 7am-10.30am. After a trip spent exploring the secrets of the city, well-travelled guests can enjoy an extended lie-in with a 1.30pm check-out.
Groupon Recommends
An insight into Irish heritage may be unearthed at Glasnevin Museum and Cemetery, the exhibits of which explore the political and artistic growth of the Republic through the generations buried in its largest cemetery. Kilmainham Gaol is one of Europe’s most extensive unoccupied prisons, and is now open to the public with exhibitions detailing the country’s penal history through atmospheric audio-visual displays. Those with an eye for architecture should take a stroll by the Fitzwilliam and Merrion Squares, where redbrick terraces, brightly-coloured doorways, and detailed pillars typify Dublin’s Georgian splendour.
Transport
Flights: Low-cost flights are available from Glasgow Prestwick, Cardiff, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester, and Birmingham.
Airport: Dublin Airport is roughly six miles from the hotel.
Trains: Trains run between Belfast Central and Dublin Connolly on a daily basis.
Groupon Top Tip
It’s easy to forget that Dublin is a coastal city, but those craving the sea air can hop on the DART train for 30 minutes to take in some of East Ireland’s scenic coastline.

The Dublin Skylon Hotel was convenient to the airport and to Dublin City (via bus). We found the room clean, cool and quiet. Having the internet in the loby [sic] was a bonus for us as we had our laptop to keep in touch with family and friends. Very friendly and helpful staff.
