The Hotel
A grand country house with eight acres of sweeping grounds, Burn Hall Hotel is a modern auberge basking in the rolling hills just north of York. The on-site restaurant serves up hearty dishes, with the produce locally sourced where possible and plucked from the garden where appropriate. Rooms are plump with patterned cushions and quilted spreads, while the hotel's flexible events space regularly hosts anything from live music to wedding fairs.

The hotel lies a 20 minute journey from the streets of York, where the imposing cathedral rises out of a web of cobbled streets and quaint shops. Duck into the Yorvic Viking centre for a sensory exploration of the city's important past, or head to one of the famous tea rooms for enormous scones and tea cascading from gleaming silver pots. Closer to the hotel, the local area is perfect for a casual afternoon stroll, while golfers can find holes aplenty a short drive away.

Transport
Train: Trains run regularly from Newcastle to York in around an hour. The hotel is a 20 minute drive from York train station.

The grounds of the hotel are absolutely gorgeous and a must to sit outside (weather permitting of course). The reception staff were extremely friendly upon arrival and we were seen more or less straight away.
