The Resort

A small cluster of villas and apartments set back from the shore, Elements Boutique Resort has been designed with specifications of sustainable luxury and eco-tourism in mind. The concept is to offer relaxing retreats, while boasting a plethora of indulgent treatments at the Serenity Spa alongside a gymnasium and fitness suite. Rounding things off with a splash, the cool, 27 metre pool employs a chlorine-free freshwater filter system. But it's not a case of all work and no dinner, as local fishermen bring their daily catch directly to the chefs, with the restaurant using other local produce where possible.

Just off Koh Samui's north eastern corner sits the Big Buddha temple, a golden monolith with crossed legs and a calm repose. Visit the temple to see devotees making their daily offerings of fruit and flowers, and to explore the surrounding courtyard with its plentiful gift buying opportunities. For a more sporting time, there are several golf courses on the north side of the island, with challenging shots amply provided by fairways winding through coconut forests and steep slopes. Also consider exploring Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village, where live music and spicy street food is the order of the day, and make time to a make a splash with diving and snorkelling nearby.
