The Hotel
Bathed in tones of deep yellow and soft gold, the hotel is furnished in a traditional style and boasts a weekly changing menu at the restaurant, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2009. Diners look out over the expansive Amarante golf course, and can delve into a wine cellar stocked with vintage tipples from the Douro valley.
The Stay
Guests can settle into their en-suite executive room amid dark wood dressers and tasselled curtain tiebacks. Some rooms come with balconies and enjoy city or river views, and all have air conditioning, a mini bar, and a TV with international channels. Airport: A regular train service shuttles passengers from the airport to Campanhã station in 33 minutes. From there, passengers should take services to Livração, and change for trains or buses towards Amarante. Private transfers are also available from the airport directly to Amarante.
