The Hotel
A newly-opened five star mansion of marble floors, gilt-frames, and sun-washed terraces, the New Palace Hotel welcome to those in search of a little regal luxury. There are opportunities aplenty to dine al fresco in the ornamental gardens by the pool, while Le Quattro Stagioni restaurant plates up Sicilian specialities under a magnificent glass dome. Evenings can lengthen with the shadows at the hotel’s classically decorated bar.
The Stay
Guests can freshen up in rooms with large windows or French balconies, marble-finished bathrooms, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and a mini-bar. Sinking each night into beds dressed in high quality linen, you rise each morning to a full buffet breakfast before padding out over the warm tiles to the pool.

Try to pack a picnic and explore the smaller islands of Favignana, where bicycles can be hired and pedalled along a sandy string of beautiful beaches. Spend a late morning inside Marsala's old stone walls, taking in the baroque buildings and bookshops, then duck into one of the trattorias to sample the island's classic mix of Italian and Arabic cuisines. A few kilometres north of Marsala lies the Stagnone Lagoon, with its salt evaporation ponds and windmills making for an unusually picturesque landscape.
