The Hotel
Huge, luxurious, and taking inspiration from Moroccan and Gaelic style in equal parts, the Hotel Sofitel Agadir Royal Bay Resort envelopes guests in five star extravagance. On the hotel’s doorstep is the warm golden sands of a private beach and inside the resort two outdoor swimming pools have hammocks and beds at their edges Spa facilities include a fitness centre, a hammam, and a sauna, while fountains and Moroccan riads murmur in the grounds. The hotel boasts four restaurants all with a slightly different timbre, from French-inspired grandeur to simple poolside snacks, or Moroccan-infused cuisine. There are also several bars to choose from, with cocktails and live music in plentiful supply, and the hotel’s own club hosts regular DJs and musicians. and a wide range of treatments are available.
The Stay
Flown in on an included flight, guests get a taste of Morocco as they enter their room, replete with carved dark wood furniture, white linen, and earthy splashes of crimson. Agadir’s main attraction is its vast sandy beach, with a massive sheltered bay ideal for swimming and sunbathing, and several popular surfing areas also nearby. If you grow tired of sun-baked lounging, head to Agadir’s Museum Municipal, where a small collection of Berber items are on display, including musical instruments and traditional jewellery and clothing. Northwest of the town you can climb or get a taxi up to the ruins of the town’s 16th century Kasbah, and enjoy spectacular views of the port and along the coast.

Avoid entering Agadir’s souk via the main gates, which can get busy, and instead opt for one of the, quieter, lower-numbered gates further along.

Although some guests found central Agadir too far to walk to from the resort, reviews are overall very positive, particularly focussed on the pool, and the attentive staff.
Very nice trip. It was a relaxing holiday for me and my family. We loved the traditional side of the hotel, the staff was very attentive, I also enjoyed the garden, the smells and the relaxing atmosphere! I recommend it to the lovers of refinement and luxury.
