As the gateway to the Algarve, Albufeira manages to retain its traditional fishing village charms while keeping up with the energetic demands of an annual flow of visitors. Slopes are speckled with whitewashed buildings, streets are lined with restaurants and colourful clubs, and nights are lit up by the twinkle of lights, soft chatter of conversation, and light chink of glasses. In the day, the pastel-coloured Algarve fishing boats can be seen bobbing placidly from Fisherman’s Beach, now a popular stretch of sand for sunbathing and summer beach parties. The Hotel
Comprised of clusters of whitewashed buildings overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Oura View Beach Club offers self-catering apartments with hotel-style facilities. A huge two-tiered pool with a cascading waterfall is set in tropical gardens, and the stretching sands of Praia de Oura beach are just outside the resort. Couples stay in a light and airy one bedroom apartment, with a lounge area leading out onto a furnished terrace or balcony. A large, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom completes each apartment, which also include air conditioning and satellite television. Guests receive free entry to the Xanadu Health Club which has an indoor pool, sauna, gym, and Jacuzzi, with a 10% discount on any spa treatments. Transfers from Faro airport to the resort, a bottle of Champagne on arrival, and a three-day breakfast package also add the sun-drenched luxury.

A wander through the streets of Albufeira’s Old Town will grant encounters with handsome churches such as the neo-classical Igreja Matriz with its majestic bell tower, and the archaeological museum with clues to the area’s colourful history. The Castelo de Almoáda presents ruins from the 12th Century which echo with the area’s past as an important Moorish settlement. Pass through the square where there is often a guitar being strummed, on your way to Fisherman’s Beach, lined with restaurants and bars open during day and night. If feeling energetic, water sports can be sampled from the town’s beaches, with parasailing, jet-skiing and kayaking on offer. Boat trips set off from the marina to take you on a trip down the coast, while travelling inland sees the coastal landscape of striking cliffs and beaches give way to almond trees and orange blossom.
Local Amenities
The hotel is well-located for lazy days spent on the beach, while evenings on the bustling strip offer a wealth of traditional restaurants and bars. A short drive takes you into Albufeira’s town centre, where restaurants serve international cuisine, and local fish and seafood dishes accompanied by Portuguese wine and port. Public transport is also a good way of getting around the area, as the ‘Giro’ network is efficient, reasonably priced, and links many popular spots. A well-stocked supermarket is situated near the hotel, a health centre can be found under a mile from the Old Town centre, and there is a visible police presence on the streets.

The bathrooms were amazing and our towels were fresh every day, we were also supplied with robes and slippers which i thought was lovely. The pool was out of this world and i loved the fact it looked right out onto the sea. I cannot fault this place at all...
