Train: Trains run from London Waterloo, Brighton, and Southampton, stopping at Portsmouth for ferry rides across to the Isle of Wight. Trains can then be taken from Ryde Pier Head or Esplanade down to Sandown.
Flights: Low-cost flights to Southampton can be taken from Edinburgh, Manchester and Leeds.
Ferries: Leading in drivers from the M3 and M27, car and passenger ferries depart from Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington.

My friend and myself stayed at this hotel on a cheap winter break, the service was excellent, nothing too much trouble. The food was good, the hotel was clean and considering we were there when the temperatures were minus 7 the rooms were warm. [Staff] made our coach party very welcome. We would certainly recommend this hotel.
