The Resort
Built around three fresh-water swimming pools and emerging from a tropical profusion of landscaped gardens, the Samui Palm Beach Resort unfolds as a hazy oasis of island luxury. The Samui Royal Wing hides modern convenience behind the steep roofs of its Thai exterior, with each air-conditioned en suite rooms leading out to a private balcony. The Trade Wind International Restaurant enjoys views overlooking Koh Pangan and the Gulf of Thailand, while a pizzeria and bar serves informal fare to guests beside the 890sqm lagoon-like pool. The resort also lays claim to a 270 metre stretch of beach, which is perfect for a lazy stroll through the warm surf. There is a fitness suite on-site for those wishing to work up a sweat, and afterwards appetites worked up can be sated with a set meal of Thai cuisine, which included on one night of their stay.

Groupon Recommends
Stretching out on a sun lounger after a full American breakfast, you can let the days drift by on the breeze while alternating the cool buoyancy of a dip in the pool with hours of careful sun cream application. Book in for a massage or tread a few hot footprints into Bophut beach, although there are many other stunning sandy retreats to explore throughout the island. For a peek at the thriving underwater world, paddle out with a snorkel or book a diving course to explore Samui's rich coral beds. Further afield, there are several golf courses on the north side of the island for practising your swing, with fairways winding through coconut forests and steep slopes providing challenging shots.

Local Amenities
Exploring the area outside the luxurious confines of the resort will bring you to Bophut Fisherman's village, lined with restaurants of various cuisines housed in old Chinese shop-houses. There are boutiques selling clothing and jewellery, alongside water sports shops and plenty of eating options. Between Chaweng and Bophut lies the Tesco Lotus, complete with a multi-screen cinema, a bowling alley, and a supermarket. Chaweng is famous for beautiful beaches, but also has a main street lined with bars and restaurants. On the west side of the island, the administrative capital Nathon has abundant low-cost shopping options and a clutch of traditional Thai restaurants. The nearest British embassy is in Bangkok.

Reviews

The hotel has received a number of positive reviews from guests who have been impressed with the setting and spacious rooms.

Gracious and elegant hotel in a beautiful setting.
Rosemary, Sawadee, Jul 2011

Firstly, the hotel grounds are huge. We were in the Royal Wing, and had a ground floor room overlooking the pool, which was amazing. Stepping off our patio area, to our own sunbeds, next to the clear blue beautiful pool, it was so perfect. Extremely quiet around us aswell, so were barely bothered by anyone around at all.
