The Hotel
Perched on a wooded peak overlooking Sardinia’s colour-rich landscape, the four star Monte Turri Luxury Retreat is a set of castellated buildings set within the grounds of a wildlife-rich nature park. The onsite restaurant cooks traditional Sardinian food, and diners can survey the rocky outcrops and emerald green sea from the terraces. With extensive pampering facilities, the Wellness Center and Spa Bellavista offers guests a heated outdoor pool, a spine-tinglingly cool Kneipp pool, a sauna, Turkish bath, salt bath and waterfalls.
The Stay
Stepping into the large, cool expanse of the Village Garden room uncovers typical Sardinian-style decoration, and rooms are designed to meld into the Mediterranean vegetation that surrounds them. You will enjoy the superfluities of individually-controlled air conditioning, satellite TV, and an en suite complete with complimentary toiletries and slippers. First nights are spent at the hotel’s restaurant, where a set menu meal for two begins with buffet starter options, followed by a main, a second main course, and finally a dessert. Also included is a cooking class, giving approximately two hours of expertly coaching the art of traditional Sardinian cooking, and rolls out with preparation of dishes such as ravioli and seadas, a typical cheese pastry.

A short step out of the hotel, explore the stunning, ragged coastline, photograph the duskily red rocks, and find your own secret stretch of beach beneath the cliffs. In Arabatax’s centre you can see the rough stone husk of the Tower of San Michele, and a triplet of pretty churches that play a key role in the local community. Boat trips can take you closer to some of the fantastic cave formations, one of the most spectacular being the Grotta del Fico a little way up the coast; a mesmeric cavern of limestone walls, stalactites, and waterfalls. Try to spot the rarely-glimpsed Monk Seal in the caves, or look beneath the surface during a diving expedition.

Transport
Flights: Low-cost airlines operate from London to Cagliari, and non-stop flights are also available from Manchester. Flights also operate to Olbia airport from London, Bristol, Leeds, and Edinburgh.
Airport: Cagliari airport is 140 km away and Olbia is about 190 km away, and group transfers can be organised by the hotel for €55, or private transfers can be arranged for an additional cost.

Hotel Monte Turri received an encouraging 7.3 from Booking.com users, while TripAdvisors awarded 3.5/5. Opinions were mixed on the service, but visitors praised the natural setting, relaxing atmosphere and opportunities to walk around the local area.
If you enjoy walking in the countryside, then there are lots of winding tracks all round the Arbatax Park Resort, in which Monte Turri is the Jewel in the Crown.
