The Resort
With a clutch of Scandinavian-style lodges and studio apartments set back from a glittering stretch of cool water, the Pine Lake Resort is a cloistered refuge of rockery gardens and luxurious leisure facilities. Each apartment has a fully fitted kitchen complete with crockery, glassware, and enough utensils for an inventive percussion band. Little complimentary toiletries await in the bathroom, and a heated towel rail ensures a warm fluffy embrace when stepping out of a deep bath. Elsewhere in the resort, a cavernous barn stretches pine beams over a large indoor swimming pool, while the gym offers a chance to sweat it out and the spa provides time aplenty to unravel. Transport
Trains: Trains from Carnforth to Lancaster run regularly, connecting to the West Coast mainline and much of the UK. Carnforth train station is a short drive from the resort.
Car hire: A number of operators are available in Lancaster, and cars can also be hired at the resort.

We booked Pine Lakes as it was convenient and well priced. What a superb surprise when we arrived at the hotel. Lovely quaint lodges surrounding a large lake with five star facilities all to hand. We'd highly recommend a stop off or even a longer stay to make full use of the leisure and lake facilities.
