Although only moments from the sheer glass and pinstripes of Jersey's financial centre, Longueville Manor belongs to the quiet, ageless side of the island, where pony traps trundle through winding lanes and beaches curve into sun-drenched bays. The pace of island life slows to a gentle rhythm as the evenings stretch out in a blur of succulent seafood and fine wines. The landscape is ripe for exploration through challenging hikes or charming afternoon strolls, and the nearby coastline combines the rip and roar of windsurfing with the calm paddle of cove kayaking.

The Hotel
Wreathed in an impressive five AA Red Stars, Longueville Manor has earned a swathe of recognition including a nomination for Condé Nast's Most Excellent Country House Hotel 2012, and a shortlisting for Considerate Hotelier's Green Champion in 2008 and 2009. The dining room is dark-panelled in deep oak, serving food prepared frequently with fresh produce from the kitchen garden, cooked by chefs who attracted three AA rosettes in 2011. Guests can work up their appetite on the tennis court or on the swing that hangs hidden in the gardens ready for the occasional reimagining of a mystical childhood.
The Stay
Rolling up the drive and curling round the fountain, the transfer car's door will open to allow guests to walk through the hotel's broad arched door. After receiving the key, you can go on to unlock rooms of warm lemon and cream overlooking the sweep of the hotel's grounds, before dropping into the deep embrace of plump and sumptuous soft furnishings. Each bathroom gently welcomes visitors with scented candles and a bespoke range of toiletries, while the rooms feature iPod docking stations, flat screen TVs, and cordless phones. There are 16 acres of formal gardens and shady woodland to be explored, as well as a cluster of umbrellas and sun loungers for long relaxation sessions by the pool in summer. A full English or continental breakfast is served each morning, and a three course dinner can be enjoyed on one night, with dishes such as hand dived scallops and roast rump of lamb available on the changing table d'hôte menu.
Groupon Recommends
With miles of coastline and many secluded beaches within easy reach of the hotel, you may wish to pack a picnic and head out for a day of dipping toes in the soft froth of the surf. Day trips can be booked for those wishing to explore the uninhabited islands that make up the rest of the Bailiwick of Jersey, and those looking for a bit of history can head to the Jersey War Tunnels for an insight into the island's important past. Mountain biking, hiking, and horse riding are all popular ways to explore the island's secrets, and the hotel can provide a wealth of information on attractions for those with itchy feet.

Groupon Top Tip
For a thrilling combination of wind power and adrenalin, try some outdoor sports. Blokarts are similar to windsurfing on land, so strap in and whip tracks into one of Jersey's beaches.
