Lapping up the heat reflected from black pebble beaches, Thalassa Seaside Resort embraces volcanic beauty with its own beachfront setting on Santorini Island. With a shoreline in red, black and white hues, the island's spectacular aspect is the legacy of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history. The azure clear waters of the Aegean Sea wash into lagoons while dazzling white Cycladic houses cluster on the sheer cliffs above, and meandering roads circle the island leading to traditional wineries and whitewashed villages speckled with cobalt blue.

The Hotel
Thalassa is archetypally Greek, with cuboid buildings made of local stone washed in stark white, offsetting the black lava pebbles of Kamari beach below. Two swimming pools cool toes in the heat outside, while an indoor spa boasts a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and therapies cabin. The restaurant serves up Greek and Mediterranean cuisine using fresh ingredients and local Santorini delicacies, and the pool bar dabbles in lighter bites with fresh juices and ice cold drinks.
The Stay
Greeted with a glass of wine or special cocktail, arrivees can sink quickly into the relaxed vibe and get their cosy on for several days in the sun. With no need to race to get their towel on the loungers first, guests can sprawl leisurely all day by the pool or private beach, with complimentary sunbeds and umbrellas at their disposal. Rooms provide an air-conditioned retreat, awash with pastel blues and candle lit alcoves, with satellite TV, mini bar, and a hair dryer in the en suite to dry beachy hair. An American-style buffet breakfast will begin each day, a welcome fruit basket will provide fresh seasonal goodies, and spa access for the duration of the stay can enrich the long languorous hours.
Groupon Recommends
On the south end of Kamari beach itself, an arch sanctuary is still visible in the cliffs: an ancient shrine dedicated to Poseidon. Further mysteries from Santorini’s past can be explored in the capital's Museum of Prehistoric Thira, with more pottery than you can shake an antique stick at. Pyrgos is the highest point on the island, with a picturesque monastery and panoramic views, and sunsets from Oia town are also well worth venturing out to see. Water sports are a hot, cooling attraction, with snorkelling in the bays and scuba diving excursions taking water-babies to reefs, wall dives, and ship wrecks near subterranean volcanoes.

Reviews
Thalassa Seaside Resort has received a warm 3/5 from TripAdvisor users, and 6.7/10 from Booking.com reviewers. While some visitors have commented on the low flying planes, they nevertheless enjoyed the hotel’s seafront situation, proximity to Kamari town centre, and the attentive staff.
The room was great, clean and very big, with a nice view over the pool. The staff was [sic] always smiling and eager to help us. The pool was big and always clean.
– Stavrianna, TripAdvisor, Aug 2010
Apart from the jets coming into land at the near by airport, a relatively peaceful atmosphere. The hotel was beautifully laid out with the close proimity to the beach, lovely pool and gardens well kept. [sic]
