A mystical land of monsters and dragons, and the site of settlements older than the Pyramids and more ancient than Stone Henge, Scotland has an unrivalled history that stretches from the retreat of glaciers in the Mesolithic period. Lying at the base of the steep sweeping highlands, Drumnadrochit has made its name on the back of the Loch Ness monster, but is an ideal base from which to launch expeditions further afield, whether they be walking the ancient woodlands of Glen Affric or following the smoky depths of a whisky trail. Loch Ness traces a glassy shard south from Inverness to Fort Augustus, its banks sloping heather-covered into the steep ragged outline of the hilltops, and is the legendary home of Nessie. And although Scotland is relatively small, a sense of immense space lifts out of the dark sheen of a loch into the huge sweep of a burnished sky, and with a cold wind colouring your cheeks and a nip of whisky warming your throat, there are few better places to take in the beauty of Scotland's wildlife.
Escape to Loch Ness with today's Groupon from The Drumnadrochit Hotel: £109 for a two night stay for two in a twin or double room, with breakfast, a bottle of wine on arrival and entry to the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre (up to £218.95 value).
The contemporary sweep of the Drum's façade gives way to a softly glowing reception, offering welcome respite for travellers walking in from the cold. The en suite rooms are all equipped with sleepeasy beds, a TV, hairdryer, and tea and coffee making facilities to ease the travel-weary, and the hotel is packed with information on things to do in the area. It lies only a quarter of a mile from Loch Ness, and guests can book a deepscan cruise that leaves from the hotel's doorstep.
Getting the feel of the romantic ruins of Uruqhart Castle, or packing a picnic and heading to Glen Affric for some ancient Caledonian pinewoods and excellent birdwatching.

TripAdvisor users gave a score of 4/5, whilst comments from Booking.com were also largely favourable. Further mention was given to the comfortable rooms and excellent breakfasts served.
Our room was part of a little chalet type house at the back of the hotel - very peaceful and made us feel like we had our own little place. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. We only stayed for breakfast but it was excellent and served with a smile!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable and breakfast excellent. Meals at the hotel also very good. Eating my breakfast looking at the loch set me up for the day. Plan to return next spring! High recommended!
