Staying in a double en suite room with breakfast, three course dinner, and bottle of Prosecco on arrival

The Hotel
The minimalist charm of The Mill’s bedrooms harmonizes with the gentle trickle of the river, uniting to offer guests the chance to gain rosy rural cheeks in country quietude. Visitors can feast at its Riverside Restaurant, where sophisticated British fare is served up under oak beams, and offers unique views where guests can admire a working mill wheel. A bar at the rear champions a view of meadows while serving pub meals accompanied by an extensive wine list and toasts of local ales.
The Stay
Guests can stroll down the stone-flagged hall and up to a well-appointed double room for two. Welcomed with a quaffable bottle of Prosecco, visitors can sit down to a three course evening meal sprinkled with local tastes. Strengthened by a hearty breakfast, guests will be primed for a stamp through the fields or wander around a local market.
Groupon Recommends
Art-lovers may be tickled by Sudbury’s Gainsborough’s House, a museum and gallery at the painter’s childhood home showcasing his soft-stroked portraits. The village assembles stalls for a twice-weekly market where basket-toting visitors can seek out surprises and curiosities. For those looking a little further afield, the quintessentially English towns of Bury St Edmonds and Colchester are just a carriage-ride away.
Transport
Trains:
Sudbury Train Station is roughly a mile from the hotel.
Road:
The Mill can be reached by the A131.
Groupon Top Tip
Local walking can be enlivened by slinging a sketchbook under your arm; John Constable was inspired by Sudbury landscapes to paint an idyllic vision of Britain.
Reviews
The Mill Hotel has won much acclaim from visitors, with Late Roomers awarding 4/5 stars for their stay. Visitors appreciated rooms in the main building, with comments being overall very positive. Special mention is made of the customer service and calming atmosphere.
This was a one night B&B stay and our second visit to The Mill. The staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. We found, when we arrived that we had been given a upgrade to a room on the top floor with views over the meadows and the river. The only drawback is that there is no lift though we were offered porterage [sic] of our bag without having to request this…

We love this hotel. Staff were great. Very helpful and accommodating. Our room overlooked the meadows - the cows wading in the water etc. Very picturesque. (Room) of a good size... It took about 15 minutes to walk into the centre of town...
