Staying in an en suite room with a three course dinner and full English breakfast each
The Hotel
Dating from the 16th century, The Red Lion Hotel celebrates its Tudor heritage with antiquated décor, and heats the bar with an open fire. 39 rooms are concealed behind its red brick exterior, with each coming handsomely furnished and some boasting four-poster beds. The hotel restaurant serves seasonal menus, using local produce when possible, while the building’s extensive dining halls make it a popular spot for events and receptions during Henley’s famed regatta.
The Stay
Rooms come fully furnished with classic British fabrics and an en-suite. Three course meals are served over dinner, during which diners can warm their palates with a choice of starters including pan-seared king scallops, mains such as spinach and ricotta tortellini, and desserts such as dark chocolate and pecan tart. A full English breakfast will get the next morning off to a robust start. Those wishing to sample Henley’s treasures a little longer can extend their stay for an additional £99 per night.
Groupon Recommends
A truly mammoth collection of exhibits can be found at Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum, where a recent renovation has endowed it with 39 new galleries displaying cultural relics from across the globe. Regal delights are on offer at Stonor House and Gardens, where visitors can explore a splendid red brick country estate which retains much of its period charm. Hikers in the Oxfordshire hills should watch out for the baffling Uffington White Horse, whose 374 foot-long figure has been emblazoned on a local hillside since the prehistoric age.

Reviews
The Red Lion is rated a comfortable 3/5 on TripAdvisor and 76% of LateRoomers would visit the hotel again. Reviewers praised the hotel’s stunning location, cleanliness and pleasant staff. Many loved the charm and character of The Red Lion though some had slightly varying positions on this.
There is a Tudor wing with exposed original oak beams. In Room 108, Charles 1's royal seal (1632) was discovered during restoration in the 19C and has been carefully preserved. There is much history here but much modern hospitality too.

The next greatfeature [sic] is the hotels location on the banks of the River Thames by Henley bridge and right in the centre of the town. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean.
