The Hotel
Rumoured to take its name from some of its famous former guests, this hotel was once visited by the young Queen Victoria and her mother, the Duchess of Kent. With the backdrop of Berwyn Mountain’s foothills and the babbling river rapids still unchanged outside, the hotel’s interior is also evergreen with the style and grace of a bygone era. Dark oak woods and regally-coloured velvet furnishings line both bars, while classic dishes are served from the restaurant’s table d’hôte and à la carte menus.
Groupon Recommends
Chugging on the other side of Llangollen’s bridge is the old steam railway, which still takes visitors through the Dee valley, while more nostalgia can be sought on a horse-drawn boat trip on the Llangollen canal. Alternatively, keep on foot and climb up to the medieval sights of Dinas Bran Castle for spectacular panoramic views. Adventure-seekers are well catered for too, and can pursue the likes of abseiling, gorge walking, and mountain biking in the sprawling green surrounds.

Reviews
TripAdvisors rate Royal Hotel a respectable 3.5/5 stars. While some guests found décor old-fashioned, reviewers keenly praise the relaxing atmosphere and hospitable staff.
Perfect location for all attractions in North Wales and right on the river Dee. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Good bars and restaraunts [sic] within walking distance. Even free Wi-Fi in our room…

We stayed here during Eistedfodd week, the hotel was very busy as was the town centre. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely as was the evening meals, the waiting on staff were very friendly and polite. definitely will be coming again next year
