Sometimes it’s good to get away from home, especially when your bed becomes your best friend, and wants to stay up chatting all night. Cut the pillow talk with today’s Groupon: £75 for an overnight countryside break for two with breakfast at The Bildeston Crown.
Built in the 15th century as a coaching inn, The Bildeston Crown retains original features of Tudor beams, gigantic fireplaces, and a triple AA rosetted eatery. The plush and cosy rooms marry traditionalism with modern comforts, and are accompanied by two bar areas serving up aperitifs and bubbly alongside real ale from the pumps. The restaurant creates freshly prepped grub and uses locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, plating up dainty taster dishes or hearty British meals with culinary artistry.
As double acts embark on a country village adventure, they can rock up to a double or twin room immersed in central Bildeston. Offering a rural network of hikes, rambles, and fresh air, the village sits an equidistant drive from Ipswich or Sudbury, providing an easy escape from the hustle and bustle. Sleepy heads can break their fast with a continental brekkie of cereals, toast, and pastries, washed down with juice, coffee, or a good old fashioned cuppa tea.
The Bildeston Crown has earned many a positive review, with TripAdvisors awarding their stay 4.5/5 stars. Whilst some comments take issue with the customer service, reviews are overall very positive, and make special mention of the quality facilities and standard of the food.
A gorgeous 15th century inn in rural Suffolk. It has been refurbished to the highest of standards with lots of quirky art and artifacts [sic]… Our room was large, with a king size bed and beautiful furnishings, plus all the amenities you'd expect from a large hotel rather than an inn… After a good night's sleep we took breakfast in a lovely room adjacent to the restaurant. There was a great selection… and it was all freshly cooked. The staff also seemed happy to accommodate any requests…

The rooms are beautifully finished and the bathrooms are gorgeous with bathrobes, nice toiletries and good loo roll! The bedroom was very relaxing with everything we wanted - except perhaps a tea/coffee machine. The only thing is that the walls are very thin and so are the floors as we could hear the bar downstairs - fortunately for us we were the last ones to leave the bar so it didn't affect us.
