Groupon finds out about Jazzercise and the beginnings of this popular dance program.
What is Jazzercise?
It’s a style of dance fitness class that was founded in 1969 and has since been adopted across the world. Today it boasts a network of 7,800 instructors who teach in 32 countries.
What’s the idea behind it?
The aim is to combine jazz dance movements with aerobics, cardiovascular exercises and weight training, achieving a whole-body workout. People of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to come and give it a try.
What can people expect from classes?
Lasting one hour, classes begin with a warm-up followed by 30 minutes of aerobic-focussed dancing to chart music. Groups will use hand weights during the strength-building part, and will perform stretches as a cool-down.
