Gourmet fare rarely materialises without expert human intervention, even in regions fertile with port-wine springs, foie-gras shrubs, and roaming herds of wild waiters. Taste the fruits of gourmet handiwork with today's Groupon: £15 for a two course meal for two at Alfie's Place.
Pairs of famished diners can make gastro-symphony with an overture of appetisers from the Groupon set menu, such as the mini cured York ham and fountains gold toastie, with a soft poached egg, or the three stage mushroom pâté with sundried tomato bread, before settling into main-act entrees. Dinnertime belly fillers such as the honey glazed pork belly served with black pudding mash and roasted shallots arrive from the kitchen with culinary swagger, only to find a formidable taste challenger in the baked rainbow trout; lovingly wrapped in York cured ham, and blanketed in a lemon and parsley sauce. Those with herbivorous tendencies will not go hungry with vegetarian friendly options such as the leek and pea tart with sweet potato fries, or the caramelised red onion tart with Swales Dale goats' cheese and cherry tomatoes.

Alfie’s Place is rated a tasty 4/5 by TripAdvisors, who were fans of the extensive menu and eager service.
We had lamb and medallions of beef for mains and both were well cooked, sauced and presented. The lamb was particularly tasty (locally sourced?). For puddings we had treacle tart and chocolate heaven. Again both were very good.

Loved the whole menu so found it difficult to decide what I wanted, the customer service was really good however perhaps a bit overly keen.
