Grazing just outside Leeds’ barnyard, in a farm stacked closed to sleepy Pontefract, Copleys Corn Maze is not only a mind-muddling maize mission, but an all-round summertime entertainment centre, with a livery of activities and attractions for kids, calves and piglets, as well as adults. The site features a six acre cow-shaped maze, made of corn growing up to nine feet high, most commonly known as Buttercup, plus a mini labyrinth for younger explorers, and innovative farmyard-themed jumping pillows and bale mountain to frolic in. With karting, a café and fully-stuffed farm shop, plus a corn-ucopia of regular events, including a steam fair and outdoor theatre show, guests can plough on and get lost in a range of exciting family experiences.
Growing gangs of Groupon adventurers can get down to the farm and have a field day fighting their way through Buttercup’s cunning twists and dead-ends, exploring the fiendishly brain-wracking challenge of the main Friesian-spotted corn maze, which can last up to two hours. Afterwards, groups can enjoy some respite with a bite to eat at the on-site café, and re-charge with a ham or cheese sarnie and a cup of tea or coffee each, before zooming off on the children’s go-karts or bobbing along on the bounce-filled jumping pillow.
