Blending spices in the heart of Calverley, Paprika infuses its menu with a mix of traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes. Beginning the feast, a mix of meat and vegetarian dishes are sprinkled among the starters, with the podina kebab showing off tandoor tones with marinated chunks of mint-dipped chicken (£4.40). The spicy lamb chop (£4.30) and boneless chicken tikka (£4.10) also ooze tandoori tastes while the panner pakora (£3.40) boasts a special vegetarian batter.
For the main event, signature dishes include the ginger and garlic infused garlic chilli (£8.25), the shredded comfit of duck layered with onion and capsicum in jaflong (£8.25). Other curry favourites include nawabi, butter chicken, and pasanda (all £7.95).
Reviews
Paprika has received a favourable 4/5 stars from TripAdvisors. While opinions on the immediate surroundings vary, reviewers are keen to praise the flavoursome and authentic food, inviting atmosphere, and attentive personnel.
Walking up the iron stairway in the small shopping complex I wasn't expecting too much of the restaurant. It was a real surprize to see how chic the decoration is inside and how large the place is too. It really is deceptive! The staff are really friendly and we have re-visited several times. It is best to make a reservation at the weekends. The food is very tasty and nicely presented. I like spicey [sic] food and this is particularly spicey [sic] even for me, so be careful what you choose. We live locally and there are several good Asian food restaurants nearby. We would definitely return to this one. Value for money is excellent.
