This contemporary gastro pub exudes a rustic styled décor, ushering clients in with a traditional Yorkshire welcoming and hearty menu that equally stands its ground. The classic Sunday roasts are accompanied by home-made starters and desserts that aim to stop tummies rumbling and sweet teeth yearning for more. Food is cooked using as much local seasonal produce as possible and the outside seating area takes prime position within one of Ilkley’s only south facing gardens.
Guests can start off the feastivities with either the homemade soup with fresh bread (£3.95) or the goat's cheese tart (£5.95). Taking an amble over to the main event, there is a choice of roast pork, beef or chicken served with roast potatoes, seasonal veg and a Yorkshire pudding straight from its hometown (£15.95 with starter or dessert). Those who prefer sweet over savoury can take on the triple chocolate brownie or get in a tizz with a rhubarb Eton mess. Other food options will incur supplements such as the prawn or duck starter (£2) and the haddock (£1), venison (£3) or steak (£2) main courses. A vegetarian lasagne is available for those who eschew the carnivorous way of life.

We were attended to by polite young staff who served us quickly and efficiently! We both ordered the 'Yard Burger' (fool of a boyfriend decided to 'double up') and waited for our meal, which arrived very quickly. Awesome. The chips were something else - chunky, crispy and soft, totally yummy. The rest of the food was deliciously cooked and you could tell that it was home made. My only beef (heh heh, geddit?) was with the onion rings - they were a little too oily for my taste. But everything was great… For delicious food and great service, visit The Yard.
