With low ceilings, exposed beams, paved floors, and roaring fires, the White Horse and Griffin combines the character of a Dickensian inn with the comfort of contemporary hospitality. Ten individually designed rooms are all en suite and come equipped with DVD players plus tea and coffee making facilities. The bistro-style restaurant bases its menu around fresh fish and local ingredients where possible, and the hotel overlooks a winding cobbled street in the ancient and history-drenched town of Whitby, next to its famed Abbey ruins.

Relishing the prospect of a two night escape in the fresh sea air, guests can settle into their room before making plans for their minibreak. Waking to the cry of herring gulls in the dawn, guests can skip down to an extensive breakfast menu before wandering out through the streets to the bob and clink of the harbour in the breeze.

First time we have stayed in this hotel but it wont be the last. Cracking breakfast. Friendly staff and a great location. We have always had a great weekend in whitby , there are some great pubs and the locals are great.
