Tapas, sometimes called Pinchos, are small snacks that originated in Andalusia in the 19th century to accompany sherry. Stemming from a bartender's practise of covering a glass with a saucer or tapa (cover) whilst a customer was away from their drink, the custom progressed to a chunk of cheese, or a few olives, being placed on a platter to accompany a drink. Nowadays you can choose from a wide range of appetizing varieties, from cold meats and cheeses to elaborately prepared hot dishes of seafood, meat or veg. A family run business, Aperitivo was established in 1987 by Galician native Manuel Blanco and his wife Maria. Since opening in 1987 has become one of the most popular Spanish restaurants in Leicester. This restaurant is famed for its good food and convivial atmosphere that creates the perfect dining destination for you and a couple of friends. This is socialising in a completely different way - eat little samples of some of the finest tapas dishes and talk away until late in the evening!
The menu at Aperitivo is both traditional in approach and creative in execution. This food will surprise and delight you in equal measures. You have £20 to redeem across the menu so you can construct a great selection of dishes. If you're looking for recommendations then we recommend you opt for the sardines a la plancha (£3.90), the Spanish tortilla (£3.90) and baby squid cooked in a wine sauce (£4.95). Delicious!
