Hailed in the The Good Pub Guide, The Bull’s Head is a family-run country pub and hotel delicately garnished with traditional British fare and barrels filled with a spread of real ales. The establishment sits against a picturesque backdrop of the rolling English countryside and is resplendent with rustic interiors as it whips up freshly-prepared pub classics for both midday meals and billowing evening feasts.
Diners can let traditional British bites lead the way with a black pudding and bacon salad drizzled in a balsamic dressing (£4.45), or the duck and orange pâté with warm toast (£3.95) before focusing their attentions on a fusion of main courses. Choices include beer-battered haddock with chips and peas (£8.45), pork sausages accompanied by mashed potatoes and onion gravy (£8.45), or the hearty Mediterranean vegetable lasagne served with chips and salad (£8.45). Meals will meet a sweet ending with a tempting array of homemade puddings (£3.95 each), and will be washed down with a cup of coffee (£2.25 each) and an after-dinner liquor (from £3.90 each).
Though still waiting to be widely reviewed by visitors, The Bull's Head received 5/5 from one enthusiastic TripAdvisor who was keen to praise the welcoming atmosphere and hearty food.
It felt homely and we were welcomed by the brother of the landlady. At once, we felt part of the village. The menu was varied with most guests opting for the Sunday roast. Everything was cooked fresh and by the looks of everyone in the pub, lunch hit the spot. This is old England as you imagine it.
