The experience can be relived via a digital film of flight available for a supplement.
Groupon finds out how to reach for the stars at Peterborough School of Flying and what rare wings feature among the airfield’s fleet.
G: What can students expect from a typical lesson?
The first ten minutes involve a safety briefing and becoming familiarised with the aircraft. A pre-flight brief follows, before students head into the air for a 25-minute hands-on cruise at the controls. The final 20 minutes will be spent conducting post-flight checks, engaging in a feedback session and completing the de-brief.
G: What aircraft are used?
A Robin HR200, which is a low-wing two-seater from New Zealand, or a parasol-winged Cessna 152 that has a top speed of 107 knots, are among our fleet.
G: What other attractions does the school offer?
A range of engineering services are also available, including body recovering and restoration. The school is also home to a fleet of rare aircraft including a vintage De Havilland Tiger Moth and an aerobatic Pitts Special biplane.
