Preaching to the choir is not only considered a waste of time but also a rude gesture, as it means turning one’s back on the rest of the congregation. Face the music with today’s Groupon: £6 for entrance to The Fron Choir concert on Saturday 3 March at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, courtesy of Age UK Wirral.
About The Event
Two days after St. David’s Day, Age UK Wirral will bring together the all-male Fron Choir’s valley-rich croonings in a fire-bellied concert performance. Assembled over 64 years ago, the band of brothers has enjoyed international success, leading harmonious sentiments, and has scooped up the BBC Choir of the Year accolade. Over 60 members of the Fron will unite for the concert, tunefully bellowing traditional Welsh songs and hymns, mixed in with some more modern numbers.
Built just after the turn of the 20th century, the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral is the UK’s largest and one of the top ten in terms of capacity in the world, towering even over London’s St. Paul’s. Having survived both World Wars, the cathedral offers up its central space - often referred to as the Great Space – to congregations and audiences of over 2000 for worship and celebration services, special events and exhibitions. Attendees to the Fron Choir’s show on 3 March will take their pews amidst the stunning setting in time for a 7.30pm start, with rousing revelries continuing until 10.30pm. The choir will be supported by mezzo soprano Kathryn Rudge, who will deliver authentic arias, as well as providing a feminine touch for some of the choir’s own songs.
