The Hotel
This four star sanctuary harbours a whole host of spa facilities, with a heated pool, sauna, and Turkish steam room in which to ease into relaxing warmth. The restaurant boasts an AA rosette, as well as a whole menu dedicated to British cheese, while the bar serves 71 different single malt whiskies and boasts a cellar stacked high with wine. Showing off a shining new refurbishment, the country house has added a brand new conservatory in which guests can munch under the northerly sun but avoid the mountainous breeze.

Transport
Rail: Appleby train station is a short distance from the hotel, with services towards Carlisle and Leeds, connecting to the West coast mainline for services to Manchester.

Very good hotel, clean, brilliant service and excellent food both breakfast and dinner (i highly recommend the pancakes for breakfast). The spa/pool area was a surprise as it has a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, amazing for such a small hotel! The public lounge area is also fantastic, it has a mass of big, comfortable old fashioned furniture which really gives the old country house feel. [sic]
