The regal and ivy clad walls of Broadoaks Country House harbour wood panelled rooms alongside contemporary appliances and en suites designed with romance in mind. With a honeymoon suite headlined by a king sized Victorian four poster bed, the hotel’s ample grounds match the intimate quality of the interior with a spattering of private cottages and cosy corners. A five star spa and health club sits an easy meander away, welcoming guests with refreshing dips and luxuriant bubbles, while the on-site music room and restaurant allow an afternoon’s whiling with cream teas and melodies.
Dwarfed by Lake Windermere and the giant surrounding rockery of Cumbria, the hotel supplies a base for summer water sports, boat tripping, and access to miles of hiking paths. Hark back to literary roots with a trip to Beatrix Potter’s inspiring country home via a quick boat trip and country stroll, or visit the museum dedicated to puddle ducks and cheeky rabbits in Bowness-on-Windermere. Segway tours, climbing adventures, and zip wires span the countryside with high adrenaline sightseeing, so grab a guide and tutor and put your nerves, and waterproofs, to the test.
