Exercising a daily passion for the historic sport of falconry, Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre lets its winged raptors fly loose among the expansive National Park. The centre is located in a walled enclosure, where the hunting birds take to the sky from 2pm. Offering explorers a chance to land on these unique grounds, the centre exhibits flying demonstrations so their talon-wielders can be witnessed in all their magnificence.
Descending upon the castle’s generous gardens in teams of two, or families of four, flights of fancy can be expected all day long. The winged predators comprise of hawks, eagles, falcons, buzzards, and owls, which can be viewed up close and personal during the two hour flying demonstration. This includes a flight session during which people will have the opportunity to handle a bird, or just watch. Afternoon tea with homemade scones, jam, and cream can be enjoyed in the walled garden tea room, with plenty of time remaining to gorge on the surroundings and exhaust photographic impulses.

Well worth a visit if you're in the area, especially if you time it right for the flying display which is quite awesome. Nice coffee shop too.
