Not seeing the forest for the trees is often a problem for short-sighted employers and hikers without a compass. Leaf things at home with today’s Groupon: £79 for a two night getaway for two with afternoon tea and a bottle of wine plus breakfast at The Hawk and Buckle Inn.

Nestled high in the North Welsh hills, this 17th Century coach house hosts rustic, cosy features to accompany the stunning views of the epic countryside that come as standard. The traditional halls come decked with wooden beams and en-suite bedrooms with disabled access, all within eye's reach of far reaching vistas from the Cumbrian hills to Blackpool tower. An on-site restaurant serves a range of home-cooked dishes, with fresh local produce used wherever possible. Special events are held regularly and include enthralling murder mystery weekends and the local area abounds with natural beauty for outdoorsy types.

A pair of wayfarers can journey to hilly North Wales for a two night countryside break. Guests are treated to a Welsh afternoon tea on one of their nights, with a selection of teas, sandwiches, homemade Welsh Cakes, Bara Brith and scones with jam and cream treating taste buds. Nostrils are awoken to a sizzling breakfast every morning and a bottle of wine helps guests sink into their serene surroundings on one night. Whilst visitors found that food service could be leisurely, comments are on the whole encouraging, with the quality of facilities and calming ambience earning special mention.
Pretty location, a nice little village, not too far off the beaten track but peaceful. Great base for exploring this part of Wales & Anglesey. Rooms comfortable and clean, friendly hotel staff. Breakfast was magnificent, beautifully cooked and plenty of it, only had one evening meal but this was good too. Would recommend.
