Dough-sculpting artiste Pasquale Amico hand-tosses a menu of authentic Italian dishes built with ingredients plucked from his family’s own farm in Capua, Italy. Traditional dishes are plucked from heirloom recipe books to create a colourful bill of meat-free cuisine made with responsibly sourced produce. The eatery is bustling with cousins and other kinsfolk who draw on culinary creativity and continental roots to create delectable flavours and fresh Campanian platters, all from a leafy corner of London City.

Seasonal ingredients ensure a shifting menu, but vegelicious diners can tuck in to a stuzzichini course like home-made focaccia bread with provola cheese and olives (£3.50), followed by a starter such as buffalo mozzarella with marinated pumpkin squash (£7). The main menu sports pan-fried spelt cake, with crispy aubergines (£8.50), or a hearty borlotti bean ragout, with roasted pumpkin and kohlrabi (£8). Dishes are eased down with a glass of Prosecco or house wine each (£7), and evening antics are topped off with a freshly brewed coffee (£2).

Reviews

Amico Bio received an appetising 3.5/5 from TripAdvisor and Yelp users, as well as a positive write up from The Evening Standard. While a few diners felt some of the flavours could be bolder and the service as times could be more attentive, many complimented the quality of the food along with the décor and welcoming atmosphere.

This restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. It's a lovely space with simple wooden furniture and floors and extra interesting touches with the ornaments and pictures. The waitress we had was also sweet and attentive.

Amico Bio certainly delivers with great home-made focaccia, raviolis (my fellow yelper had the broccoli ravioli and said they were great) and I had a roasted aubergine with some salad and garlic & rosemary potatoes... absolutely perfect.
