When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, but keep a few back for a lemon meringue pie or a lovely lemon and herb encrusted fillet of salmon. Taste the bright side of life with today's Groupon: £24 for a ten course mezze taster meal for two with wine at Yamal Alsham.
Transporting diners to the heart of the Levant, Yamal Alsham is a Lebanese and Syrian dining experience with a real taste of milk and honey. The evocative menu is filled with a range of classic dishes from the hearts and homes of every city and every kitchen from Beirut to Damascus. An unmistakably Arabian décor is inspired by a distinctly Islamic artistry, with well-designed ornaments complementing the rose-coloured and scented facade. Open every night of the week until 11pm, the riverside restaurant hosts traditional entertainment in the form of music and belly dancing to cater for those who enjoy the bubble of a hubby bubbly.
Toasting good health with a glass of wine from the esteemed chateaus of the Bekaa Valley or equally impressive Mediterrean vineyards, diners can begin their culinary voyage. Featuring many Levantine classics, the mezze tasting starts with crudités, hummus and a fresh green salad. The table then becomes filled with a wide range of savoured sensations from falafel to batata harra, a dish of spicy potatoes, akin to patatas bravas. Carnivorous bites include sfiha, a meat-filled pastry beloved by the Ba'albek region, and the Lebanese national dish of kibbeh mekliyeh, which consists of a spiced ground lamb filling encased by bulgur wheat. Once the savouries are over, sweet tooth satiation is then offered in the form of crispy, buttery, nutty baklava.
