Synopsis
Based in the magic land of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe follows siblings Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter as they are drawn into a struggle for good against evil in a land of perpetual winter.

About The Show
Combining puppetry and surround video projections with traditional theatre techniques, this major new production of CS Lewis’s classic is set against the stunning backdrop of Kensington Palace. The legendary story was adapted for stage by award-winning director Rupert Goold, with a sound score composed by Olivier Award-winning composer, Adam Cork. Following a theatre run of Peter Pan that critics will Never-Never forget, ground-breaking production company Threesixty have stepped up to stage The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe with the same multi-media magical grace.

The Venue
Pitched in Kensington Palace gardens, this show is staged in an all-encompassing, purpose-built theatre tent, which is temperature controlled for comfort in all weathers. Show-complementing media is projected onto the tent canvas in a 360 degree panorama, immersing the comfortable and tiered seating areas in vision and sound. Hot and cold food, drinks, sweets, and other refreshments are available to purchase, and, should a case of the grizzles strike younger members of the audience, the show can be watched from screens outside the main stage until they’re ready to go back in.

Reviews

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe received a rousing 4/5 from What’s On Stage critics and readers, along with positive reviews from The Evening Standard and The Guardian. While some felt at times the technical side of the production impacted on the story, critics noted the overall spectacle and applauded the portrayal of Aslan.

Excellent production with real spectacle and emotion. The depiction of Aslan is amazing and the resurrection had children and adults scratching their heads around 'how did they do that'? Ultimately thrilling and moving this is a treat for all ages.
Gazza, What’s On Stage, London, May 2012

But there is a fine sense of spectacle throughout. Seated in the round, we are treated to constant movement. The animations by Chris Randall are detailed and dynamic. Onstage there are dancers, stilt-walking, and a wardrobe that rises and falls through a stage hatch. The showmanship owes something to the bravura of Cirque du Soleil.
Henry Hitchings, The Evening Standard, May 2012
