Gliding regally above the world, 300 feathery friends flock together at the Birds of Prey Centre which is nestled in the beguiling grounds of the Shuttleworth Estate. A multitude of these winged creatures are gathered here for the viewing public, with species ranging from owls, hawks, eagles, and falcons, to kites, vultures, and even pelicans. The centre offers numerous experiences, including handling and flying the birds, educational classes, and an adoption scheme for those who have always wanted their own fluffy bundle of joy.
The day will kick off with a steaming cup of tea or coffee at 9.45am, during which groups of falcon-friendly folk will meet and soar through a tour of the centre. Eagle eyes can catch displays of the birds in the collection, before eager arms act as a perch for an owl during a little chinwag and twit-twoo. Falconers will supervise bird flights, and the handling of a beautiful Harris hawk and Chilean eagle too. When the session draws to a close at 1pm, bird lovers can stick around in the centre to enjoy the presence of more of the mighty predators, as well as enjoying other flight displays.
