An early competitor for the Inn was the Outt, which didn’t do very well because the owners were never in. Find out why the inn won outright with today’s Groupon from The Carnarvon Arms Hotel Choose from the following options:
• £79 for a one night stay for two with a three course dinner and breakfast (Up to 47% off)• £129 for a two night stay for two with a three course dinner and breakfast (Up to 46% off)

One of Marco Pierre White's gastro pubs, Carnarvon Arms Hotel serves up an appetising platter of accommodation and dining from a Grade II listed building. The country inn cooks up a seasonal storm with an emphasis on locally sourced produce, offering traditional, British dishes alongside a fruitful selection of tipples. Nestled in the village of Burghclere, the old coaching inn was once a resting point for those en route to Highclere Castle - nowadays known as the film shoot location of Downton Abbey.
Enveloping themselves in comfy, thick duvets, guests can snooze for one or two nights in an en suite room with Wi-Fi and a flatscreen television. A hearty English breakfast will greet taste buds each morning, and the likes of smoked salmon, rib-eye steak, and Bakewell tart can be nibbled with a three course meal on the first evening.

Reviews
The Carnarvon Arms Hotel has received a number of promising reviews. Reviews were overall positive, with the quality of food and service earning particular praise.
The room was great, well set out and although not massive had all we needed and good for the price. Being a pub it had good food, a nice atmosphere and super lounge bar type area that was nice to sit in during the morning before departure. The staff were friendly and the room was comfortable so we got a good night’s sleep. Getting in and out of Newbury is dead easy. So all in all a really good place to stay.

4/5 stars. I stayed here for the first time recently to visit friends. Being a solo female traveller (along with pet dog), it is always pleasant to find a hotel where the staff are as friendly andf [sic] helpful as they were at the Carnarvon Arms. My room was very clean and pleasant. The food was definitely of a high standard, and service always came with a smile. Thank you everyone for making my stay so enjoyable, I will be back.
