Thwarting food thieves can entail constructing beefy barricades, assembling protective bean forts, and making known the threat of the lightly-spiced chickpea nunchucks. Send starter snafflers to the dock with today’s Groupon: £59 for a three course a la carte meal for two including a Champagne cocktail each and tea or coffee at the Michelin recommended Silk Restaurant.

The Michelin-recommended Silk Restaurant takes law-abiding diners on a comestible cruise down the old Silk Road, serving its dishes in a Grade II listed magistrates' court building. Among the panels and pews of the chambers, where Napoleon, Oscar Wilde and Sir Mick Jagger once stood trial, customers can delve into seasonally-changing treats, using locally sourced ingredients where possible, and pepperings that were once the grail for seafaring explorers. Head Chef Rajesh Parmar creates edible accolades to once rare spices, succeeding Chinese flavours with those from India and Thailand, and a dollop of English fare such as sea bream or Kentish roe deer in a tongue tickling taste fusion.

Reviews

TripAdvisor users commented favourably on the excellent food and interesting décor at Silk, awarding the restaurant a tasty 4/5 stars.

I had scallops seasoned with Kaffir lime leaf on strawberry salsa & chilli with a cilantro coconut froth, the BF [sic] had some tender beef mini fillets with green Thai paste, both were REALLY good. Then we both had an 8oz fillet of beef with peppercorn sauce and a hot curry and mustard mash, which was to die for, best beef you will find in London I think!
