Crafting fanciful morsels of octopus and skewers of dynamite beef, Tapasia is the second West End venture from the team behind Tsunami. The chefs blend together the warm-hearted sharing format of Spanish tapas with fine-tuned Japanese flavours, concocting elegant appetisers and inventive mains courses.

Dining pairs can stroll up Old Compton Street in Soho towards this modern eatery, where they are granted £40 worth of food and drink. The menu allows guests to select edamame beans (£3.50) to start, before welcoming tapas dishes such as gochijang barbeque pork, or razor clams ponzu (both £6.50). Grabbing a side of steamed jasmine rice (£2.50) if so inclined, visitors can also go the whole hog with deluxe mains of black cod with miso, or roasted Chilean sea bass (both £12.50). Yuzu kosho jumbo tiger prawns (£8.50) and roasted scallops with vegetable fondu (£9.50) also await tantalised tastebuds, while and almond crusted foie gras (£8.50) and grilled beef skewers (£9.00) provide a tempting alternative for meat lovers.

Reviews

Tapasia has attracted largely favourable reviews, and receives a super 4/5 from ViewLondon. While opinions on atmosphere vary, reviewers praise the innovative and flavoursome cuisine, as well as the attentive personnel.

Tapasia succeeds at understated, beautiful and well-thought out combinations. And even though some might accuse it of missing the small plate bandwagon by a country mile, it's still more than worth a visit.
