About the event
Heading to the West End from a sell-out run at The Old Red Lion Theatre, The Importance of Being Earnest has taken Oscar Wilde’s critically acclaimed comedy and brought it to the heart London’s theatre land. The play satirises the Victorian’s stiff upper lip and shuns the social conventions of the time with witty dialogue and farcical action, and has become one of Wilde’s most popular works. Starring Harriet Ballard, Simon Grujich, Janet Jefferies, James McNicholas and Rachel Nussbaum, the play takes centre stage at the historical Theatre Royal Haymarket for a two week run of fun, frolics and cucumber sandwiches.
Nabbing a top price seat at the 190 year old stage, theatre goers can go Wilde from the 1st February until the 12th. The show runs at almost two hours with a midway break to keep sweet cravings contented, or a range of drinks to whet whistles and ensure voices are primed to join in with Lady Bracknell's famous ‘a handbag?’ line.
