Working to nurture creativity, and bring out his students’ natural photographic flair, Dan Nickells of Lightship16 runs regular photography workshops aboard Europe’s oldest surviving Lightship. Stimulated by the vivid backdrop that the 180-year-old ship provides, lens lovers will begin the three hour shutter session with a 60-minute briefing, followed swiftly by an hour’s on-location shooting up and down the river Medway. The lesson will conclude with an evaluation and a final Q and A session with Dan. The class will cover areas including ISO, apertures, shutter speeds, and artistic composition, and each happy snapper will receive a certificate and a print as a memento of their experience. Refreshments will also be provided, keeping thirsty fingers panning. Classes are run by PurePortaits on board the Lightship 16. For more information about photography courses, click here.
