Treating well-travelled palates to a tour of European tastes, this modern eatery employs a chef with over 20 years’ experience to plate up its extensive menu of Franco-Italian favourites. The CRU Restaurant complements warm flavours with elegantly simple block-red interiors, and keeps things refreshing with an enviable cellar of wines. Striving to cook up a melodious dining experience, the restaurant team also holds regular musical events featuring live acts and specially designed set menus.

Taking their seats for an afternoon or evening feast, diners can peruse the à la carte menu over a glass of wine each. The meal will get underway with a choice of hot or cold starters such as tiger prawns (£7.95) in brandy sauce, saffron, and Dijon mustard, and Portobello mushroom (£5.95) topped with sundried tomato and goats’ cheese. Once plates have been cleared, epicures can move on to the main event with dishes including breast of tender Barbary duck with a wild berry sauce (£15.50), and roasted butternut squash (£10.95), accompanied by halloumi, courgette shavings, and a mixed herb dressing.

Reviews
CRU Restaurant is rated a satiating 7.8/10 on TopTable. Diners were mostly delighted with the service they were treated to, and felt the meals to be of a good standard.
The menu comprises Italian/French/Spanish staples and we had a competent meal in very pleasant surroundings. Waiter service was exemplary. Some mains were mixed, the Saltomboca was made using sliced rather than Palma ham yet the Sea Bass Munier was flawless.

As always, the service and meal were excellent. Staff are very friendly and efficient. The restaurant is not pretentious in any way. Tables are sufficiently well spread so that diners are not shoulder to shoulder with others.
