The associate member of the British Gliding Association (BGA) and its fleet of magnificent flying machines such as the feather-light K21 and IS28 craft delivers silent and thrilling glides through clouds one to nine. Its location, nestled in the Eden valley, provides a natural home for thermals, lee waves and other lifts to allow riders and high flyers to soar above and beyond the stunning Pennines and Lake District scenery that surrounds.
Whether a mere fledgling or an expert eagle, all guests will be welcomed to the club with an initial safety briefing before taking to the skies with an instructor steering the craft. There will either be two flights lasting 5-15 minutes, or one longer flight of approximately 30 minutes if there's better soaring conditions. Mid-flight, the controls are offered to guests to drift across England’s green and pleasant lands. The centre uses winch launches to assist with getting airborne and with the gliding bug biting, one month’s membership is also included which allows for further flight escapades at members' rates.
