Spicing western tongues with authentic Thai tastes for the last 25 years, Royal Orchid is a long-established restaurant firmly rooted in the city centre. Awash with warm colours and elaborate pillars, the interior fuses eastern ambience with colonial grandeur. An ample wine menu, including Thai tipples, is designed to complement the traditional feastings, and the venue also plays host to IntaFood Thai cooking classes for budding cooks and experienced dragons alike.
Banqueting pairs can dine on a starter and main, washed down with a 125ml glass of house red or white wine (£2.50). Thai style aromatic duck and pancakes (£8.95), pan fried battered mussels (£6.50), and spicy Thai fishcakes (£5.90) swim among the starters. Mains feature chilli sea bass (£15), salmon sweet and sour stir fry (£12), and king prawn Thai red curry (£8.90). Veggie options are also available from spring rolls (£4) to tofu dried curry (£6.90), with little chillies symbols marking menu heat strengths for light spiciees to boiling bravados.

The decor is lovely and the atmosphere is pretty good. It's not one of those fancy, modern fusion restaurants, but I love it! The place is very clean. Food (we usually order Thai green curry and Pad Thai) as always been consistently good.

Definitely worth a visit. It's the best Thai place in the area, and its great value.
