Stock is excellent for enlivening gravy, starting off soups, and dividing into shares if large groups get hungry. Stock up with today’s Groupon: £25 for a three course meal for two at Stock Restaurant.

Housed in the gold-accented former home of Manchester’s stock exchange, Stock trades in fresh ingredients whipped into modern Italian shape. Inside the majestic Edwardian walls, colourful ribbons of pasta and soft homemade gnocchi are served, alongside succulent 21-day mature beef and marinated rump of lamb. A mature cocktail menu is also available, and the sophisticated sounds of live jazz and soul singers regularly fill the fragrant air.
Enjoyed for a leisurely lunch or an elegant dinner, the meal gets going with an antipasto misto platter per person, containing slender slivers of salami di Napoli, prosciutto di Parma and bresaola, along with grilled Mediterranean vegetables and buffalo mozzarella (£8.50). Any pasta dish can be selected next, including homemade lobster ravioli in a pink crayfish tail and cherry tomato sauce (£11.50); or pappardelle served with a Tuscan-style rabbit ragu (£9). Meals are sweetly completed with a sharing platter of Italian desserts (£7.50).
Reviews
Stock received mouth-watering scores of 4/5 from Yelp and Google users, while TripAdvisors awarded a satisfying 3.5/5. Though opinions were mixed on the service at times, visitors praised the quality of the food and gave special mention to the restaurant’s opulent decor.
The venue itself is exquisite, with marble floors and pilars [sic] and huge ceilings - it was the old stock exchange hence the name and is grand accordingly. The food is delicious and much more authentic with chefs that are more highly skilled than elsewhere.

We really enjoyed our meal at Stock, the food was lovely and the service was very friendly and efficient. The actual restaurant itself is fabulous, the architecture and design of the building makes it much more special.
