This cosy boutique eatery serves up hearty meals that do the contemporary twist, appearing on elegant plates within the glamorous, chandelier-bedecked setting. The child-friendly restaurant servers up seasonal dishes made with locally sourced ingredients where possible, often accompanying them with an array of tipples to guests sitting back in comfy, booth-style seating. Bringing a shining slice of glamour to the village centre, the bistro perches close to Hale railway station.
Guests will have myriad choices, including the tiger prawn, mussel and squid ink spaghetti, blended with a light dill cream sauce (£9.50); and the Kitchen Ploughmans, a sandwich filled high with chicken liver pâté, Lancashire cheese, mixed salad, kitchen chutney and pickled gherkins (£7.95). Vegetarians may look forward to the butternut squash risotto, with sundried tomatoes, petits pois and peashoots (£7.95). Diners can round off the meal with a hot drink of choice, with options ranging from latte to cappuccino, and from hot chocolate to special tea (all £2.95).

This is our favourite restaurant. The food is nothing less than superb with an innovative menu and excellent presentation. The ambience is lovely and cosy with an area near the bar if you just want to have a drink. Live music at weekends. Staff very pleasant and amiable and efficient service.
