Aptly situated in Castlefield’s Catalan Square, this Mediterranean restaurant offers a sumptuous array of dishes, fusing together cuisines from Italy, Spain and Greece. Having lassoed in Steven Smith from award-winning restaurant Stock, this eatery is equipped with a head chef who uses the experience of his extensive personal travels and wide knowledge of flavours to create an eclectic, authentic menu. Low lighting and passionately red walls add spice to the Mediterranean feel and atmosphere.

Settling into the warm glow of the restaurant, diners can sip on an elegant champagne cocktail before delving into a Mediterranean melting pot of flavours with a main course with starter or dessert. The starters include delicate delights such as pan seared scallops with sweet potato puree, crispy pancetta and rocket leaves (£8.95) or mango and chilli-marinated crayfish tower with spicy crème fresh and basil (£7.25). Main events include vibrant salads, carefully cooked steaks and a feast of fish dishes such as the grilled marlin supreme served on a butternut squash risotto cake with a rocket and parmesan salad (£15.95). Those finishing with a sugary flourish can sample fresh twists on classic desserts, such as the chocolate brownie served with apple sorbet.

Our experience was one to remember, the food was beyond our expectations, really 1st class and the staff couldnt have been more attentive,or helpful,we would highly recommend The Twisted Med and will be returning ourselves. [sic]

The restaurant is quite small which created a nice buzzey [sic] atmosphere but we were seated on a table near the door and did feel like we were in a bit of a walkway. The food however was delicious, I had the goat cheese to start and my boyfriend had the calamari, which we both thoroughly [sic] enjoyed. For mains I had the seabass and my boyfriend had the steak, again cooked and presented beautifully.
