Tiramisu is a delicious and traditional Italian dessert, not to be confused with tiara sumos, who are merely a group of sumo wrestlers who enjoy dressing up for their sport. Keep in with fine dining circles with today's Groupon from Foffano’s. Choose from the following options:

£14 for two courses of fine Italian dining for two (Up to 66% off)

£25 for two courses of fine Italian dining for four (Up to 69% off)

Keeping a rib eye out for locally sourced produce, Foffano’s prides itself not only on rustling up some of the area’s finest Italian grub, but also supporting the local economy. The chefs regularly snap up organic milk and cream from the Acorn Dairy in Darlington, as well as grabbing produce from Archer’s Farm. Chic leather seats pepper the floors while red bricked walls send out a rustic tone downstairs. Upstairs, the white washed surroundings set off a fine dining feel, and yellow tulips add a burst of colour to the monochrome table layout.

Getting in a tagliatelle tangle of options , diners choosing from the evening menu can opt for a starter of beef tagliata, where rare strips of fillet are served on a rocket salad and sprinkled in parmesan shavings (£6.50). The seafood stew uncovers mussels, squid, prawns and fish fillets, cooked in a parsley and white wine sauce (£13.95), while the slowly cooked oven baked lamb shank (£13.95) is marinated in a red wine sauce with carrots, onions and herbs. Those wanting to swap savoury for sweet can indulge in a traditional treat of tiramisu (£4.50) or tackle a slice of cheesecake (£4.50) with a change of flavour every day. Steak dishes will incur a surcharge of £10.

We sat over our meal for 2 hours, and we were never rushed. Would definitely go again.

Darlington has a few Italian restaurants but the intimate laid back atmosphere at Foffanos beats them all. The menu is a little limited compared to some, but what they do they do well.
