Hailing the culinary heritage of the green, white, and red, the family-run Classico adds a parmesan sprinkling of class to Italian food with a combination of sky-scrapingly stacked pizza and pasta dishes. The restaurant’s decor features exposed stonework walls offset by dark pinewood floors, while rich red curtains with subtle gold detailing drape over windows that cosy up to glowing lamps. Meanwhile, its menu imbues classic dishes with a twist, adding a splash of vodka to their smoked salmon tagliolini, and whiskey to a classic prawn cocktail starter.
Taking to the culinary stage, starters will open the show with the home-made liver pâté on toasted bread and drizzled with honey (£4.50), or a plate of warm mozzarella wrapped in Parma ham (£4.95). Next up are the mains, which offers a sumptuous range of pizzas that show their flavoursome faces with the likes of vegetarian favourite caprino and pomodorini with goats’ cheese and cherry tomatoes (£7.95), or the meaty goodness of the calzone stuffed with ham, mushrooms, and garlic (£7.50). Taking it traditional, pasta dishes include penne al pollo with chicken, garlic, tomato, and cream sauce (£7.95).
